Average Rating: Rating: - Great tool to prepare for the PMP! I used the PMP Exam Prep (2000 edition) as one of my primary study tools to prepare for the PMP exam. I studied about 10 hours per week over the course of 3 months and passed the exam in February. I did not take any formal training classes. The book helped me quickly identify the areas where I was weak (Earned Value, Network Diagrams) and needed to drill on. By the time I went through the book for the third time, I felt really confident in my ability to pass the PMP. There are lots of great tips and tricks in the book that help you to identfy the most important areas for you to focus on. I also used the ESI practice exams and CDs and found them useful. The ESI practice exams were remarkably similar to the questions on the exam. I highly recommend Rita Mulcahy's book! Rating: - A Must for PMP Exam Prep If you are prepping for the PMP exam, this book is a must. This self-contained course explains the PMI certification process, offers exam-taking tips and focuses your attention on key project management concepts. Written to save you preparation time, the book: •Helps you identify potential problem areas in your knowledge. •Review topics not covered in the PMBOK. •Become acquainted with what the author calls "PMI-isms." •Prepares you for sitting through a four hour exam. •Acquaints you with the type of questions that appear on the exam. Make no mistake; the exam is much harder than the questions that appear in this guide. However, the time spent reviewing Mulcahy's material will focus your attention on material appearing on the exam. It will also broaden your approach to project management from your personal, narrow experience to the broad-based approach tested on the exam. If you are serious about passing, this book is well-worth the money. Rating: - The best book available on PMP Exam This is no doubt the best book available on the PMP Exam. Rita covers each and every area required for the exam. I studied the PMBOK religiously (run through at least 10 times with concentration). Then read PMP Exam prep and sincerely do each of the excercises mentioned by her. Her coverage of Earned Value, and Network diagrams are very good. She covers the whole topics from the exam point of view. Keep doing the sample tests and noting your scores. Once you reach at least 80% on her sample tests then go ahead and plan your dates for the exam. I also attended the local chapter PMP Exam prep training, which also helped a lot. Thus using the PMBOK, PMP Exam prep and training I was able to successfully clear the exam with a very good score.
