Average Rating: Rating: - Truly Great Books That Everyone Should Read These books are definitely some of the best books that I have ever read, and probably ever will. Stephen King is a fantastic writer, and I truly admire his ability to grab hold of people's attention while they're reading his books and keep it there the whole time. Anyway, about the Dark Tower series, you're either going to love them or hate them. In most cases, you'll love them. It takes awhile to get used to the style of writing and how he jumps back and forth between times, worlds, and places, but once you get past that the books are great. King describes everything in the clearest detail possible and makes you feel as if you are truly there, watching everything happen with your own two eyes. I know that everyone says that about a lot of books out there, but it is very true with these ones. It's like you're becoming part of Roland, Susannah, Eddie, Oy, and Jake's adventures. Anyway, I do recommend these books to anyone out there who likes good books, along with Insomnia and the Tommyknockers, two more King classics. Rating: - The Dark Tower series While I'm far from being a fan of fantasy and sci-fi, 'The Dark Tower' series has captivated me for over 6 years. I picked up 'The Gunslinger' in high school out of boredom, and I have now read all 4 volumes of this series twice (currently working on a 3rd time). The way these books are written, you can imagine yourself walking along with Roland, Oy and the others on their (your?) quest to find 'The Dark Tower'. You can feel Roland's pain when he's being attacked by the 'lobstrosities'. While most of Stephen King's books are easy to picture in your head, this entire series is hands down the winner. Everything is described in deep detail. The scene that comes to mind is from the NYC portion, when Roland hits a clerk and King describes the clerk's jaw as moving 'two inches to the right.' Whenever someone asks me a good book to read, I recommend anything from this series. Rating: - The King This series is King's crowning achievement. There are not enough words to describe the depth and power that this series holds over its readers. The actuality of it is that this series takes the center stage of all of his books. This overall story encompasses all of his other stories, and he is beginning to realize this fact. In recent books, he has started making references to this storyline, and vice versa. #4 makes references(as well as 1,2,and3) to other characters from other books. This gives the constant King reader a sense of a cohesive universe where everything is somehow related. This only serves to make the reader hungry for more Dark Tower books. I highly recommend this series to any reader, but I also warn you that once you start in, you will not want to stop until you too are standing in the red fields with Roland, looking upward at the Dark Tower.
