Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Question
I loved the book but i want to know what is going on now. Is Mark Putnam out of jail at this time. I got done and closed the book and wanted to keep reading and finding out more about it and can't seem to find anything on the internet about it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great story, Meet the people and it makes it the best
I have read the book because i was born in that area. After reading it I found out I know some of these people named in the book so I did my own investegating. There are so many different stories told about what happened but it all points to justice being served. Although some statements in the book i found to be told differnt than the story that was told by that person. It made me see some of these people in a differant way. The book tought me that the ones i thought was my friends are such big liers in real life. the book makes each and everyone of these people named to be just the way they really are in life. and the town yes i do think it should always be known as the welfare town. because that is all there is in that town and i thank god i got out of that town at a young age and i work hard and pay for what i get. but this book is a great book and you really will love it. with out a doubt in my mind i feel the book is all about the facts. if you only got to meet the people this book talks about and hear them tell there side now it would be the funniest comic show ever. they are such liers and this book tells the real truth about Susan.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very informative
I liked this book very much. It not only chronicles the murder, but all that led up to it. Ms. Jones provides a vivid description of Susan Daniels Smith (the victim), a poor coal miner's daughter, and life in the Tug Valley. The author is able to convey the desperation of Susan Smith's last days. She also hints there was a possible FBI cover-up of certain aspects of the case, e.g., Ms. Smith's pregnancy, and the many problems in the agency's Pikeville, Kentucky, office. Any reader of true crime will love this book.
